Sid's Saturday Shenanigans #9 12/10/11

Announcements
Welcome back to another episode of shenanigans! At the behest of my fellow authors I have been "persuaded " to make another post. It has been a while since I have last painted and I feel a little rusty, but once school is over I will have more time to paint, and get things done.
I have begun to paint the Magnus battlgroup, and I will not post WIP pics of them, because I want y'all to be surprise when you see the final product of what I will be donating for the Breast Cancer Brawl (snicker snicker). I have been wanting to make my shenanigans more...shenanigany, so I have looked at my previous posts and see what I could do better to make it these posts actually worth reading. After some severe critiquing by yours-truly, I am going to make a few changes in how I post.

First, I am going to post what paints I used this session to get the look of the model. This will help those that want to use the same colors I did to get the scheme that they want. Second, I am going to list step-by-step what was done to the model mixed with pictures from the model. Just in case someone wanted to copy how I painted the model. I hope that y'all enjoy this new format, and that you will want more shenanigans!

The guinea pig for this will be my buddy Jason's Mage Hunter Strike Force! I had to think how I was going to paint these guys for the typical angry elf colors. So, I decided to just get as close as I could and go from there. Alright, people let's git-r-dun!

Sid's Saturday Shenanigans #8 - 11/26/2011

Hello to all the Scrummers out there, and welcome back to another edition of Sid's Saturday Shenanigans. After a long break due to overwhelming school projects and deadlines. Finally, I will be able to make a post on the final product of the Scythean. It looks amazing, and it will look terrifying on the battlefield.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
In other news here is what's going on right now, future projects down the road, and also some ideas I have been churning in my head to shake up the Shenanigans. You guys are going to love what I have in mind for future posts.

Projects
First of all, the next project that demands my attention is the Magnus pink battlegroup for Breast Cancer Brawl. I have yet to get all the models for it, but there is nothing wrong with getting started right now. After that I have a full unit of Mage Hunter Strike Force and the UA. They will be painted the standard colors of Retribution with a little twist of my own. I am sure that Jason will love this little angry elves once they are done. As for my own models, I have decided to repaint my troll battlegroup and the few other models that I have for them. I was not sufficiently satisfied with the priming job that I did. It wasn't smooth enough to do a quality paint job on them.

I also still have Strakhov to finish, and there is not much left to do for him, and you will soon see pictures of him when he is done. I am very proud of how he turned out, and can't wait to use him on the table.

The Future of Shenanigans
For future posts, I am planning on streaming my painting sessions so you can see what I am painting at that particular moment. I will also be doing commentary on the techniques, that I use to get that top quality paint job. On the stream, you will be able to ask me questions about painting, personal stuff, armies that I play, or whatever strikes your fancy. Please be aware, that this is still in planning, and I need to get all the details flushed out and proper timings for breaks, and when I will be streaming. I hope to get this started sometime next year, when things die down a little after the wedding.

Sid's Saturday Shenanigans #7 - 11/05/2011

Hey everyone! Welcome back to another edition of S^3. This time I have a little more to show. It is taking me a little longer than planned to paint the Scythean, but it has been a fun experience. I am almost done with the table-top phase of the painting, and will move on soon with the fine details.

I have been asked to donate my painting skills for our Breast Cancer Brawl, and I will be painting the Magnus Battlebox to be auctioned off in January. It will be a challenge, but I am honored to paint this for a good cause.

These past couple of weeks have been very stressful, but I have been doing my best to keep the Shenanigans going. Thanks for all of your support to keep it up.

Sid's Saturday Shenanigans #6 - 10/29/2011

Welcome back to the Shenanigans! This weekend I was able to get things rollin' with the Scythean. I have the basic idea of what colors are going to be for the chitin and skin, and now I just need to get the table top quality done, so I can move on to the details.

This is just going to be a quick post showing some WIP pics that I have. I am sorry, that I won't be able to go into details. Today is going to be a very busy day for me and my fiancee. I will try to get more done in the next issue of Shenanigans.

We'll see you guys next time!

Sid's Saturday Shenanigans #5 - 10/15/2011

Welcome, Welcome Scrum Bums to another edition of Shenanigans! I have finished the Drakhun, and am itching to show you the final product of this awesome Khador model. However, before we get to the pictures, I need to talk about my appearance on the Scrum Cast!

As you may or may not know. I will be doing a little section on painting during the cast, and will be answering some questions about how to make a showcase model for master quality. To give you an idea of what I will be discussing, I will give you an outline of some steps to a master quality paint job. Please be aware, that this helps me to get that quality, and there are other ways to go about this:

Sid's Saturday Shenanigans #4 - 10/08/2011

Welcome everyone to another edition of S^3. This weekend, since I have finished painting the Sluggers, I have moved on to other projects that I have in the works. First of all, the Man-O-War Drakhun. I am very excited to paint this model because, it is from my very first faction, and also it is a very beautiful model.

I will also be showcasing my battlegroup for the Journeyman League. I have decided to go with Trolls, since I have the battlebox and they need to be painted. You will get a glimpse of what my painting scheme will be like for the rest of the army, and some experimentation with different skin colors. Let's move on to today's showcase (and no it's not a showcase showdown like on "The Price is Right").

Adam wanted to have the tan-ish theme with his Khador, and he wanted me to paint accordingly, and he gave me some examples with his models that he himself painted. It gave me a great inspiration on how he wanted to have this particular model to be painted. I thought that I would have the model done by today, but it turns out that it's going to take me a little longer to paint due to it being a large base model.

Sid's Saturday Shenanigans #3 - 09/24/2011

Good Day to all you Scrum Bums! This is another edition of the Shenanigans, and I have a special treat for you today. I spent most of last night and a little part of this morning to finish the Troll Sluggers for today's S^3! Before I go into that I would like to give an update on the other projects I have been working on.

I have begun work in the Drakhun and the Scythean, and not much as of yet, due to finishing the sluggers. They will however be featured in future editions. I will continue working on them today. I have the schemes ready to go, and I will announce them next week as I continue to work on these fine models.

I have also been working on my Trollblood Warpack for the Journeyman League that is going on at our store here in Logan. I have been using the same scheme for the beasts as I did with the mauler. I may need to tweek the scheme a little due to smooth surfaces and fewer detail than the mauler, but it will look just as great. Since Madrak is an albino troll, I have given some serious thought into what an albino troll would look like with the skin scheme I have chosen. The scheme that has been sticking out in my mind was a yellow base skin with bone-ish highlights to give it that albino look. I haven't tested this yet, but I think it will look awesome!

Without further delay, I give to you the final product of the Trollblood Sluggers!

Sid's Saturday Shenanigans #2 - 09/17/2011

Welcome back scrum bums to the second installment of Sid's Saturday Shenanigans! Where in this post I continue to paint the Trollblood Sluggers, and bring these models closer to finishing, and be table-top ready.Recently, I've been commissioned to paint more models, and I will be showcasing these models as well. The first being a Man-o-War Drakhun for Adam, A.K.A Sephiroth's_Khador, and then followed by a Legion heavy warbeast; the Scythean. It will largely depend on how much I will be able to paint in the coming week, but my goal is to have at least the Drakhun done by Saturday, then the following Saturday I will then have the Scythean painted and ready to be showcased in S^3 #4.
Well, that is all for announcements. Let's get down to it shall we.....

Sid's Saturday Shenanigans #1 ~ 09/03/2011

Hello to all Scrummers out there on the internets! As promised I have brought you the first edition of Sid's Saturday Shenanigans, where I, SlapHappySid, will showcase my own painting projects of your models that you have commissioned me to paint or my own Khador or Trollblood models, that I have neglected to paint in a long time! In this issue I will showcase TheGreatBlah's Trollblood Sluggers and where I am right now in painting this hard hitting unit. I was going to showcase my Man-O-War Shocktroopers, but there was a complication. As I was spraying my shocktroopers with a sealant, the sealant decided to flake onto my models, and even concentrate itself in unwanted places. I was furious! So I apologize for the inconvenience. I will have to go back and see if i can fix this issue, and if not, I will have to strip the paint and start over.

Anyways, enough of the bad news. You guys want to see the good stuff. Now let me present to you the WIP pictures of the Trollblood Sluggers!

"Hell, It's About Time..."

Guess who just got a new camera so that he can take pictures of painting projects? Yeah, that's right, I did. So are you ready for the final product of the Kiltlifter? I hope you are, and I do apologize again for being late on this post. I tried to take pictures with the phone, but it wouldn't let me transfer pictures to my computer or to my facebook even! I have been saving my funds for a while now, and finally bought my new camera a yesterday. I am excited to be blogging and taking pictures again.

There will be changes to how I will blog painting projects, and I will go into that a little later. When I first started painting the model, I had no idea that it was going to be so daunting. I buckled down, and just started painting away. Cool ideas were flowing as I painted, and I am really excited to show you the final product today. The last thing I noticed on the model was the mercenary pendant on the Kilt itself. I never noticed that before, until the end of the project. Now for the moment you have all been waiting for! I will unveil the awesomeness that is the Kiltlifter!

Introducing Sid's Painting Service

Unlike myself a few of our new author's are very accomplished painters.  To the point where they can do very high quality paint jobs very quickly.  Yes I know, we hate them for it.  So for those of you who are very very similar to myself and are willing to donate their hard earned monies in exchange for a high quality paint job, then our boys Sid and Skywise are your Huckleberry.  Both Sid and Skywise have been on the painting end of a large handful of my own models and they are happy to do the same for any of you.  So go check them out over at our painting page Sid's Painting Service .
