Welcome everyone to another edition of S^3. This weekend, since I have finished painting the Sluggers, I have moved on to other projects that I have in the works. First of all, the Man-O-War Drakhun. I am very excited to paint this model because, it is from my very first faction, and also it is a very beautiful model.
I will also be showcasing my battlegroup for the Journeyman League. I have decided to go with Trolls, since I have the battlebox and they need to be painted. You will get a glimpse of what my painting scheme will be like for the rest of the army, and some experimentation with different skin colors. Let's move on to today's showcase (and no it's not a showcase showdown like on "The Price is Right").
Once I was done with the tan armor, I moved on to the maroon/red parts, bronze, and steel parts of the armor. I realized that I should do the rider first, and then the mount. I did this mostly, because in my mind it goes a lot faster. So I base coated the corresponding areas, and for the bronze/steel areas I did a wash of that same chestnut ink. For the maroon part, I just highlighted with Skorne red base.
Adam wanted to have the tan-ish theme with his Khador, and he wanted me to paint accordingly, and he gave me some examples with his models that he himself painted. It gave me a great inspiration on how he wanted to have this particular model to be painted. I thought that I would have the model done by today, but it turns out that it's going to take me a little longer to paint due to it being a large base model.
began with Rucksack Tan as the base coat for the model, and did a wash with Chestnut Ink. Not only did it darken the color a bit, but it really set the tone for the rest of the highlights, and I am happy with how it turned out. After the ink, I did a highlight with Rucksack Tan again, and then a bone color.

I am having a lot of fun painting the Drakhun, and I hope to have it done by next weekend, so that I may move onto the Scythean project. Now here is the showcase for my battlegroup for the Journeyman League. I won't go into how i painted it, because it is my little secret! ;P
I kid. I really like the red/orange skin on these trolls, and I hope to do the same for all of my trolls. The armor is going to be a little tricky, but I am not sure what colors I like more for them. I started with ordic olive for the impalers, and we'll see where I'll go from there. I may do steel studs on the armor, but I am not sure yet.
